The New Universes Project: Eine Neue Reise Beginnt Season 3 - Episode 2: Into the Unknown November 27th 4566 Afternoon Narrated by Ayano Layton Our team is prepared to make entry into the cityship to work with the local security forces to rescue Yuki Rembrant; Sumire's sister. We have some basic information about what is going on; now our team will be beginning our search on the station.

Ayano, Aidan and the team were meeting in the transporter room to beam over to the cityship to begin their search. Maki was already in the room just standing on the pad, not really doing anything.

Aidan

Ayasha nervously adjusted her gear from sheer anxiety.

Dezy stepped into the room with a rifle slung over her shoulder, and made her way to the transporter pad. She gave her equipment a final check, and stood ready to go.

Tory Trace

Tory continued to search through the network but sent a VX comm line for the team heading over to the cityship so he can stay in touch and update them of any new developments. He should be getting some reference messages intercepted by the city ship security momentarily so he can use it to filter out more of the network.

Aidan

Nik in BDU's walked in. Rifle slung with practiced ease, though it was from a download.

Rockyeahh

William joins the team in the transporter room. He mumbles. "Time to get shot at."

Aidan

Aidan shot William a look, but it wasn't anything he hadn't heard 100 times.

Rockyeahh

William shivers a little.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

Maki glanced at the engineer; he seemed more unsure about the mission than their medic. She wondered if he was just transferred. She says nothing. Ayano looks at each member of the team. "Final checks; we all good?" Maki simply nods at her superior.

"Stick behind us troopers, and you'll be fine," Dezy replied, then eyed Maki.

Aidan

Aidan spoke up. "This is an investigation people. No hands on weapons until a firefight actually happens. Seeing people in uniform and armed isn't going to be new but odd behavior will tip our hand."

"Aye aye," Dezy replied.

Since there were no objections to deployment Ayano messaged Tory that they were ready to be beamed over to the station.

Tory Trace

"Got it. I'll keep you all updated. I've just received a data burst from the ship administration. I'll have something narrowed soon," he said to Ayano as he started to decrypt the message for a cipher from the cult's messages and transmissions.

Aidan

Nik walked up to the console. Setting a ten second time delay, he stepped back onto the pad as they all beamed out to the cityship.

The group is beamed over to the station where a security team is waiting. The officer informs the group that they have narrowed things down to a particular district and have locked the station and district down so no one could escape. As far as getting into a full on firefight; security was not prepared for that so they had not advanced any further.

Aidan

Aidan called back to the Defiant and ordered Brutus to be beamed over and to stay put until needed.

"Okay group. Pay attention. We have to go and start looking around. Let's do this."

After the group arrived at the entrance to the sector the leader of the security detail says. "This is as far as we have secured. The rest we will be leaving up to your unit."

William stays at the back of the group due to him being the least capable fighter.

"Wonderful." was all Dezy had to say as she started heading into the unsecured area, ready to get her rifle if needed.

Maki followed behind her.

Aidan

Nik offered, "I've patched into the comms to the area so I can triangulate any messages in real time, General."

"There's an odd quiet in the air."

The enemy is literally oblivious to their presence.

Aidan

Aidan said, "Patch into the security cameras while you are at it. See if we can catch the mice scurrying about." "Will do Sir." Nik replied.

As Nik and Tory investigate the computer systems and camera footage...

~Notice Me Oniichan~

They find nothing of importance but the enemy doesnt realize they are searching.

Dezy Investigates a section of the city, looking for anything out of place.

Maki continues to follow her.

Tory Trace

Tory used the cipher in the messages to finally filter out the unrelated messages. He soon came up with some message traffic of some people on board. But those were still guesswork. "Got an update. I've got some possible suspects for now. Sending you images," Tory said as he sent about six pictures. Four of them were middle class people and two were lower class folks. They were in the district they are currently in but also in the next area.

As the information was sent Ayano wanted to smash her head into a desk... This guy really should stick to engineering and computer ops. His intelligence and operational support skills... Yeah; she and Aidan would need to have a conversation wit their chief when this was all over. Ayano messaged Nik to see if he had located anything on sensors.

An enemy scout notices Dezy and Maki as they were exploring.

The guy attempts to get down from the building he is on top of to go warn his comrades.

Aidan

"Sir. Over there." He VX'd Aidan the location and camera information on one of the suspects, climbing down the outside of a building

Dezy grabs her rifle, and takes aim at the enemy attempting to get down from the building.

William looks around a corner sheepishly before quickly moving back. "Right that's good enough." He then heads off to catch up with the others.

The guy manages to hold on after behing shot and does not fall to cause himself further injury.

Aidan

"What part of low fucking key did you not understand Dezy?" Aidan called in Brutus as he would be surprised if anyone didn't notice the gunfire from an unsilenced rifle."

He resumes his climbing down.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

The enemy hears something; but they dont know wha tti is.

They send more scouts to investigate.

Aidan

Aidan offers. "Weapons hot but DO NOT FIRE UNTIL FIRED UPON. We have civilians in the area."

Maki attempts to cast a weight spell on the guy on the building.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

The guy on the building falls breaking his neck.

Tory Trace

Tory pulled up the city ship's security camera and began to track the movements.

Aidan

Nik said, "His lifesigns just flatlined General." Aidan Acknowledged with a nod and a grimace.

More enemy scouts begin to search.

"I should really think of learning magic," Dezy spoke while watching the enemy go splat.

William watches a guy fall to his death. "Well then."

"Would you like some assistance?" Dawn VX's Aidan over a secure channel.

Aidan

Nik said, "I am detecting more movement, but so far they are being cagey. Nothing specific."

The enemies searched but couldn't find anything.

Dezy continued her search, making sure to stay where there was plenty of cover.

William continued on his merry way. "If it wasn't for the murder I'd say this was a nice place."

Tory Trace

Tory noticed the unusual movements of some 'civilians' and got another visual angle of the scouts. He pulled up the profiles of some of the scouts from his list of suspects he compiled. "Got two of them on visual and on the suspect list. I'm marking them on our VX," he said as he sent over the data to the team on their secure channel.

The enemies continue to search.

A scout finds William.

William stares at this guy like a deer in headlights.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

The scout approaches. "You there; how about you come over here."

~Notice Me Oniichan~

You do whatever you did well.

Rockyeahh

"Well how about you come over here." William grins.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

The scout draws his sidearm and takes aim at William "Boy..."

He prepares to fire.

Inori Yuzuriha

The scout doesn't hear Dawn approaching nor the feel of the blade that instantly sprouts from his face.

As he is distracted by William, he dies a deadly death.

Rockyeahh

William watches his second death of the day. "Thanks Dawn."

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn pulls out the blade and emotionlessly watches the body crumple. "Consider applying more discretion." She says as she approaches him.

Tory Trace

"You know, we're trying to catch them alive. Dead bodies aren't going to give us much to work with,"

Inori Yuzuriha

"Considering my orders, that is irrelevant to me" Dawn responds to Tory.

Aidan

Aidan uses the sensor pack on Brutus as it should be getting close enough to assist.

Dezy founds one of the buildings that their leaders own. It is nearby.

Dezy comms in with the team. "Found a building the cult leaders own, approaching now."

"Shouldn't you wait for backup... eh..." Maki replied.

Aidan

"Wait for us. That's a direct order." Aidan said.

The enemy searches more.

"Acknowledged," Dezy replied to both Aiden and Maki. A little scouting wouldn't have hurt.

The guard sees Dezy at the door.

Dawn looks at the person she just saved. "We should rendezvous with the others."

He calls in that he sees security prersonnel outside. The enemies are now alerted to our existance.

All the scouts start to return to their base.

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn tilts her head. "I believe that they are aware of us now."

~Notice Me Oniichan~

Maki casts a smog spell on the office building the enemy is in.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

She casts smog on herself and Dezy.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

Both characters visability is impaired.

William watches this magic display. "So are you guys idiots?"

The enemy only sees smoke.

They dont know what to do.

Aidan

As they catch up, Aidan said shakes his head at spell. "Nik. Lead the way." Nik takes point and pulls the door off the hinges as he switches to lidar sensor data.

Dezy is using her cybernetic eyes to see a little better. She also starts making her way back the direction she came.

Aidan

Nik grabs the nearest grabs the nearest grab, trying to fling him into the other.

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn is able to see through the smoke and throws one of her two blades at the guard hitting him square in the chest.

Tory attempts to hack into the building's network

Throwing the enemy into the other enemy cuases them to fall and take four damage.

William blindly walks through the smoke slowly.

He's on their ship, providing support

Tory gained access to the building's network, getting a view of the security cameras and control of the doors that could be electrically locked. "I've got the eyes". A shame he didn't have access to their data storage.

~Maki casts dispell.

She succeeds against her own spell

The smog goes away.

Dawn then rushes the guard with her other blade with the intent to kill

As soon as the smoke cleared Dezy found a spot to hide behind.

Aidan

NIk used zipties to secure both guards. Not really caring at the moment about broken limbs.

The two being unable to resist the android are detained.

The door guard tries to grapple Dawn.

The guy manages to throw Dawn to the ground with him on top. He rather than shooting her goes to beat the crap out of her.

Dawn just emotionlessly stares as he tries to kill her via beat down.

He breaks his own wrists on her and attempts to headbut her killing himself.

The enemy calls for evacuation realizing that their door is now open and unguarded.

Dezy makes her way to the building and offers to help Dawn to her feet.

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn gets up, pushing the moron off of herself and proceeds inside, pulling her blades free from the corpse. "They're trying to escape." she states flatly.

Aidan

"The evidence does point in the direction Sir." Nik offered.

Maki throws a flash grenaade into the building.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

The enemy is blinded and deafened.

Inori Yuzuriha

"I don't have the same capabilities as the Murasashi, but I'm willing to bed the transmission I detected is a call for assistance to get out. That or an invasion fleet."

Dezy waits for the flash grenade to go off, and enters the building. She takes aim at some of the cultists, aiming more for disabling shots.

Tory attempts to intercept the outgoing transmissions

One enemy was shot in the face as he moved into her shot.

Dawn again throws on of her blades at one person before rushing at him for a finish.

Aidan

Aidan calls Brutus nearby and on standby. He calls up the picture of the door and has him stand guard there as he enters the buidling.

Dezy fires some more disabling shots as she advances in the building.

Aidan

Nik wades past the stunned guards, looking for Yuki and any higher ups.

Four enemies remain, as their three scouts have not returned yet.

A shadow looms over the block the building is at as a ship moves into position over the building.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

Maki changes from spell casting to using her weapon. She takes up a defensive position holding the door to ensure the enemy cant escape this way.

Tory Trace

Tory saw the enemies within the building had begun their moves to start evacuating. He still had control of the electronic doors so he began to lock down the doors leading to the side escapes and to the roof. That should slow them down and even box some of them in.

Ayano searches the building for Yuki.

"I suggest surrendering." Dawn says to the survivors.

The enemies are still under the affects of the grenades cannot hear instructions.

Dawn also alerts the military forces of a possible hostile extraction/reinforcement attempt.

Aidan

Aidan calls for the cityship personnel to assist in surrounding the building(edited)

Dezy proceeds to sweep through the building looking for any escape routes the cultists might use.

Dawn subdues and restrains anyone still alive, indifferent if any injuries were sustained during the process.

(71 percent) The sound of a shuttle landing atop the building can be heard.

The remaining enemeis in the building attempt to find stairs to escape.

Ayano searches.

Dawn hears the commotion and proceeds to make her way to the roof

Aidan

Aidan commands Brutus to jump then climb to the roof.

Tory began to open the electrical doors to let Dawn through to reach the enemies who would still be trying to get through the locked electronic doors to reach the roof stairwell

Dezy races to a stair case, and shouts "On the ground NOW!"

Aidan locates the enemies holding Yuki as they were about ot head up other stairs.

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn quickly overrides Tory and access the controls for the door, closing the doors on the top floor and the roof access door.

Tory Trace

Tory prevented Dawn from taking control . "Focus on the job. I'll slow them down and you reach them"

Aidan

Pistol in hand, Aidan commands. "Freeze or I kill every single one of you"

All doors to the roof lock themselves electronically.

One of the guys takes Yuki running for the door but can't get through it. He attacks the door

The door is too strong. It won't break

Aidan

Aidan fires a warning shot above the person's head.

The shuttle is ready for the enemy to escape. The door is the only thing standing between them and escape.

Aidan

Aidan tells the group what is happening.

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn arrives to assist dealing with the kidnappers.

Ayano heads for his location as does Maki leaving Brudas at the door.

Aidan

NIk at the sound of the shot was moving in that direction even before Aidan's command.

The first enemy takes aim at Aidan.

"Surrender and you won't suffer a horrible end." Dawn states emotionlessly.

The last enemy tries to break the door again.

Dawn charges at the third person.

The robot instandly scales the wall.

Aidan

Reaching the roof, Brutus relays the information to Aidan. Aidan deploys the high yield particle cannon and aims for the shuttle's windshield.

Ayano arrives joining Aidan and the others.

Aidan

Aidan takes careful aim at the terrorist by the roof.

While Aiden focuses on the shuttle, Dezy takes aim for a terrorist, and opens fire on the poor guys leg.

The guy that Aidan was aiming for loses his leg and falls over falling down the stairs.

There is only one enemy between them and the guy at the door.

Enemy two runs at Aidan in an attempt to tackle him.

As he runs as them Aidans fist makes contact with his face.

The enemy with Yuki attempts to break open the door.

The door causes him to break his hand.

The door wins.

The shuttle flies away as the pilot is fear stricken.

Dezy takes aim at the enemy at the door. And shoots him in the leg.

Brutas approaches the door punching it.

Brutas breaks open the door.

The appearance of Brutas instills fear in the enemy resulting in distraction. With that Yuki is able to run back down the stairs. Her hands are tied behind her back. The guy doesn't go after her and just gets on his knees in front of Brutas putting his hands on his head.

Aidan

Aidan pulls out his utility knife and frees Yuki's arms, letting her help get the rest of the restraints off of her.

Inori Yuzuriha

The Ardent Dawn returns to the dockyard, recalling its two interceptors on its way there.

We battled with the Cult and defeated them once and for all. We are now in the process of taking Yuki back to the Repulse.

<START SIM> Maki had taken Yuki from Ayano to check her over with a healing spell then. Then hands her off to Ayasha for a proper medical screening and escort back to the Repulse. Maki then takes the one person they have arrested with her.

Dezy searches some of the rooms for any more cultists.

Aidan

Ayasha comforts Yuki. Aidan stayed close but behind. The adrenaline from combat would take a while to come down and compared to recent battles it seemed a bit easier than normal. He was hoping things had turned but he was wary nonetheless.

Ryuji decends from his sniper tower to catch with Maki "wait up Super makio maker."

As Ryuji caught up to Maki she simply made eye contact saying nothing simply walking the ziptied man who was taller than her away.

Jack Pine

Jack would be waiting outside with a backup squad, having been waiting in reserve incase things had turned ugly that reinforcements had been needed. As they exited, he gave his CO a salute, "Perimeter is secure sir, is there any additional orders you'd like me to pass along?"

"Beep boop, HK-46 activated." A meager astromech bot follows Maki. [Editors note: HELLO STAR WARS COPYRIGHTED SHIT]

Aidan

Aidan tasked Brutus to follow the captive at a discreet distance in case things turned. Aidan returned the salute. "Yes, follow the prisoner. I want more of us around, while he is in custody and interrogation."

Jack Pine

"Understood. I'll have my team help escort.", Jack answered before waving his men to follow. They formed a ring around behind the person in custody, making sure they didn't try anything.

Finding nothing, Dezy leaves to join the others.

As a bunch of soldiers join Maki and Ryuji Maki starts humming an Allen-Morein version of "The Ants go Marching on".

The astromech learns the tune then begins playing it in unison with Maki.

She pats the cleaning droid as it was disassembling body parts it had cleaned, as it followed them away from the battlefield.

Jack Pine

Jack gives a raised eyebrow as he looks over the two, "Yal never cease to remind me just how odd of a bunch we are."

Aidan

Nik scans Yuki for any other ailments of sign of alteration while returning to the Repulse.

Tuncecine

Ryuji doesn't hum, he is kinda tone deaf.

Dezy just hums along with Maki and the droid as the adrenaline rush starts to wear off. Occasionally looking around just incase there was a cultist still out looking for them.

Ayano stays at the building overseeing security taking over the operation. There wouldn't be much more left to do but still someone would need to stay there.

Station security personnel were clearing the area by this time.

Inori Yuzuriha

Dawn glances over at the trio humming before going off to look for Ayano.

When the song is over the droid then begins playing Beethoven's 7th Symphony Op 92.

She finds her conversing with the security detachment commander completing the final hand off. Maki smirks. The cultist feels as though he is going to have a very, very long life ahead of him, before he meets a very, very horrible end from these strange people; why did he not just let them kill him... It would have been smarter if he did that.

The group soon arrives at a transporter station.

"So what's the orders now?" Dezy asked Aiden since he was in charge, "Hand him over to station security, or take him with us?"

Aidan

"He's coming with us." Aidan ordered. It wasn't a lack of trust with station personnel but without knowing who he could and couldn't trust, he felt better if the enemy were with him. "After a full medical and bioscan including cavity search."

The group is returned to the little Repulse. Maki and co then take hiim to medical.

Dezy stays with the cultist, making sure he makes no attempt to escape.

Ryuji jokes "I'll get the gloves and the lube ready for the cavity search."

"This will be enjoyable." Maki says joking with her partner.

Jack Pine

"You three are just devious aren't cha?", Jack says with a nervous chuckle.

Aidan

Aidan offers a suggestion. "Be thorough." Before heading to his ready room.

"Are you ready for your pelvic examination..." Maki said putting on gloves for dramatic effect to scare the guy then disrobing him by dropping his pants only to just press a button on a scanner.

The Astromech gets off the transporter pad and begins wandering around the ship.

Dezy takes a spot at the the door with her rifle in her arms. She watched with a smirk as Maki intimidated the cultist, and just observed.

Jack Pine

"Well he certainly isn't packing much down there at least, he isn't clubbing anyone with that thing.", the Lt. Cmdr said with a smirk and a chuckle after the prisoner got his pants dropped.

Ryuji watches the scanning machine giving it a gaze making sure nothing was going wrong.

~Notice Me Oniichan~

"I heard you like to kidnap little girls and hold them for ransom..." Maki said to the cultist as she presses him against the wall. She grabbed a laser scalpel and acted like she was going to remove his dick but turned it off just before doing so. The guy whimpered. "I'm glad we had this conversation." She resumes the scans, leaving him there as she took off the gloves just as he was about to piss himself.
As the droid was moving about, it encountered a forcefield.

The droid turns the other way and heads toward the mess hall.

It is stopped by another forcefield as it encounters a scan field from the ships AI to make sure its safe; since the crew didn't check it the ship was going to.

Aidan

Nik and Ayasha had Yuki in the small medical bay. Nik pulled up the scanner in the room and compared it to the version he took while walking over. "Miss Rembrandt, I am going to examine you. I have the scans but I need to do a quick physical on you. Is there anything that hurts or you need to let me know about?"

She shakes her head no; they didn't do anything to her it seemed. They were just trying to use her as leverage.

Jack Pine

"Why bother dirtying a scalpel miss, I got a combat knife you can borrow for that. Would hate for the docs to nag at you for getting cultist filth all over their nice expensive tools.", Jack said with a small humorful grin as the two worked, him and Dezy watching carefully while having a bit of fun at the job.

Tuncecine

"Can you folks calm down this is starting to border on inhumane treatment."

Aidan

He runs a quick hand over her bones and skins. Checking pupil response and nothing came up. "If you'd like I could give you a mild sedative. Something to help you relax." Nik offered to Yuki.

The droid enters a deep sleep state to conserve energy and save the environment.

Aidan

Aidan opened a VX channel to Sumire and sent her a few images of the rescue. He also added he missed her and few other choice personal notations.

"God knows what he did with Yuki while she was their prisoner," Dezy spoke up, "I say removing it would be a public service."

"if you treat them in inhumane ways then you are justifying them treating our prisoners in inhumane ways."

"it means in brass tacks if we get word they do shit like that then we bring the fullest might we can to bare to free our guys but when we have one as a prisoner we must be better then the monster we protect people from."

Yuki nods and lays on the biobed wondering how far exactly they are from Orteria and where they are exactly. Yuki closed her eyes to rest. Maki decided to put her energy to better use; wasting her words in an intergalactic terrorist was not even worth her time. She left the others to guard the room as the scan would finish itself. Sumire got the mail albeit a bit delayed but would reply minutes later with a heart, pictures of home and a picture of them as a couple.

The ship scanned the droid and found it was safe. It releases the forcefields.

"Too be honest, none of our operations have ever gone routine, or exactly professional save for a few. We roll in cursing and shouting how we'll kill them, then shoot the bug/terrorists, and come home for the next disaster to take care of.", the Lt. Cmdr commented, losing his grin with a shrug. "Besides, torture hasn't been out of the ball park before, and the threat keeps them docile and in line."

Noticing the dissipating energy field the droid gleefully returns to it's primary objective and heads towards the mess hall.

Aidan

Nik compares the two scans of Yuki and one he gets remotely from the prisoner. Making sure there wasn't anything abnormal his missed.

As Nik was running the scan a system failure occurs.

All the computers on the ship fail and suddenly ships power fails for an unknown reason.

The droid notices the sudden drop in power and immediately redirects and heads to engineering.

"What the hell?" Dezy spoke, bracing herself if the cultist tried to leave the room.

As the droid arrives it finds an exploded panel and the only engineer on duty (the only nonplayer one) is unconscious with plasma burns from a console explosion a console in engineering exploded and the energy system exploded.

The droid sends message to the med bay to assist the engineer in engineering, then begins scanning around to identify the problem.

"Well, that's unfortunate.", Jack grumbled as he propped his rifle, incase the prisoner indeed tried something.

After identifying the problem, the droid hurriedly begins repairs on the ship.

The damage to the ship is repaired. As the fault in the energy system is fixed and Natsumi arrives with a medic to take the engineer to medical the ship slowly starts to regain power slowly flickering to life again system by system.

Natsumi and the medic haul the burned man off.

Maki walks in. "Huh... its you... I was wondering what happened; so you fixed the power?" she asked the little robot.

Aidan

Sickbay has emergency lighting. He grabs a hypospray and give Yuki a light sedative. "Perhaps taking her to your quarters would be a good idea. I can check on her later. Keep me advised." To Yuki he asks. We are going to get you to a room and Medic Thornton is going to watch over you. Is there anything else I can do for you?" He finishes at the lights come back on.

The droid replies.

She shakes her head no still processing the experience needing to rest. Maki pats the droid. She kneels in front of it. "Hum... beep huh... I see... well... good job. What is your name... Do you have like an ID tag or something?"

"Greeting: Hello! It is nice to meet you!"

"HK-46; I'm designated as Makigisa Tahoshi. usually people just call me Maki though. You seem quite resourceful. how about you follow me for now until we get permission from my captain to have you stationed here okay?" She asked the droid.

She pats the droid again and stands up. She heads back out of engineering, after first calling ops to have someone sent to cover engineering, since there would soon be no one there.

After getting enough of the rubble moved, the Petty Officer began work on getting the secondary panel disconnected. As soon as the panel was disconnected a giant flash could be seen. "Ah great, one of the relays is overloaded."

He returns to the service panel and scans it for a time.

It is a good day for fixin' lads... on our last adventure the crew was bringing back an enemy for interrogation... He almost lost his balls and then the power went out. Somethin' went amiss and power failed... Now everyone is runnin' about to fix this problem. Lots and lots of fixin in these parts...

As the repairs continue Maki had left she and Ryuji's room after noticing the lights were non-functioning. She wanders down to engineering finding the burned out remains of the poor repair droid who once was. She pats the once hot burned lifeless remains "Poor burned metal." She turns her attention to people who are working questioningly wondering what happened.

Owain continues his tireless pursuit of repairing the ship, Piece by Piece if he must.

A Petty Officer in Engineering was clearing some debris after working on one of the panels.

Maki has Mega cast invigorate on the people in the room giving them additional strength and energy to continue their repairs.

William grumbles as he continues to check inventory on the entire of engineering. The recent damage to the ship and the discovery of faulty terminals. He awaits an order of 6 replacements from the Oynx. They were quite happy supply the Repulse. However he had to check for any other problems that needed fixing and/or replacing.
"Someone kill me..." He continues the inventory.

"Maybe later sir," the Petty Officer spoke feeling a little invigorated from Mega. After clearing some more debris, he grabbed his toolkit, and moved to one of the terminals to run a diagnostic.

"Alright this is hell." William sends out general message. "If there is anyone who is free to count and tick things off lists, come on down to engineering. We have to check a lot of shit. Once we do, we check the other departments. It's a fun tedious job. So come on down!" William smiles as though he didn't sound like a twat.

"You know you could've just asked if you needed assistance." Dawn replies. "I don't have as much capacity as the Murasashi, but I'll help as much as possible."

Owain continues his repairs on what he can repair.

Natsumi takes over treatment of the injured engineer from the medical team that was working from him. She finishes his treatment and sends him back to his quarters. She then heads to engineering seeing if any workers need treatment. Noticing the girl who can heal here the doctor just turns around and goes back to medical without a word.
Ayano calls down to engineering with the emergency power comm. "Bridge to engineering; what is the status... how are repairs coming?"

William turns to see Dawn enter. "Welcome to hell." He sends her a list. "This is your half. We are just checking if the serial numbers match up to this Starship. Simple stuff but we must check everything. Then we move room to room." His eye twitches.

William chokes as he hears Ayano's message.

Maki tilts her head noticing inventory "isn't that the quartermasters job; aren't you supposed to be doing repairs?"

"She's right you know" Dawn comments idly as she looks over the panel and damage.

William replies to Ayano with a stutter. "Welll we are slowly working through this nightmare but it's certain to take a while yet. And once we recieve the replacements from the Oynx we should be um, er better..."

He sighs and responds to Maki. "Well once the replacements arrive I'll install them and there's an endless amount of stuff to check so I need to get it done!"

"I think the Oynx is a tad busy but I can bring some supplies if it came down to it." Dawn replies as she interfaces with the ship itself.

"Of course we have you all to help now so it's going to get done faster!" William grins like an idiot.

"Worry not, the Oynx already agreed to send some replacements, just not how long it would take...." William sighs a little.

Dawn sighs. "You called me for this?"

(effectively we have no terminals to work with the reactor, they will be replaced, once that is done the ship will work but still checked over.)

Dawn withdraws from the ships systems, "There isn't much to repair anything at all. A fuze replacement is all that is needed."

Dezy entered engineering, noticing the work going on, and approached William. "Wanted to be certain our prisoner was secure before coming down here," She spoke, "Any way I can help?"

Dawn shakes her head. "We're pretty all good here."

William looks at Dawn as though he found her under his shoe. "The damage is not what I am worried about. The damage was caused by the terminals not being correct so this ship, which meant they could blow at any time. Following that we had two explode, a service panel was found a poorly built mess and 4 others had to be removed. That is why I am replacing them and checking every component because scanning the ship did not show any issues." He smiles. "But thanks for helping."

Owain continues his repair work trying to improve on any area he feels is subpar.

Dawn turns to him and raises an eyebrow. "Very well then, I'll be at the helm" and with that she leaves.

William hands Dezy a pad. "Begin working through this list. It's dull but well yea..."

William finally hears from the Oynx. "It looks like the replacements are on their way." He swigs some coffee. The coffee mug is empty. He doesn't seem to notice this fact.

"Who wants to run down and drag those terminals here. I only need at least one to get the ship running again."

Dawn messages William, "I can do that from here if you want"

Dezy took the pad, and went over the information on the list. "I'll get started," She replied, and went straight to work on the list. She had some engineering training, so she didn't really need a map to be drawn to find the things on the list.

"Go for it Dawn. I'm going to lie on the floor for a while." He slowly lays down in the fettle position.

Dawn interfaces with the ship and starts up the engines.

"Hey Owain could you hook up the new main terminal. Then you can monitor the engines. I'm just a littile tii..." William falls asleep.

Maki catches him in an invisible spell.

Owain does so with relative ease while he tries to work on other parts as well.

"Bridge to engineering systems seem to be powering back up; are we good down there?" Ayano asks.

“So far” Dawn replies to Ayano.

"it should be good to go if you don't go too heavy on the gas, we are waiting for some extra parts to make sure every system works to their fullest." Owain said

"Good job then everyone; once repairs are finished go get some rest relief will be on the way soon." She said. The ship would be on its way to its destination soon.

"I am good to go for another 27 hours."

"So far the items on my list seems to be working correctly," Dezy reported, striking a few items on her list.

The Repulse was now mostly up and running. Also at this point the city ship had offloaded all the supplies required so it was heading back to Orteria. The Repulse was back on its own save for that tiny little survey ship in toe. The Repulse was now on a course for its original destination and was only a couple days away from that planet; soon the crew would be able to communicate with the world if it indeed has communications capabilities. They were extremely far out and the nearest help would only be SAD forces likely some low funding auxiliary unit that had less personnel than the Lavie so the chance of any useful help was nonexistent. In short; they were on their own now. By this time Natsumi had sent all the relevant medical clearances for their newcomer and had the fill-in crewmen who was handling quartermaster affairs just give her a room; the man; like how he just gave Tim a random room just shrugged and gave her whatever room he could find... He really seemed not to care at this point. This guy really was not good at this job.

Aidan
Aidan had sent feelers out for other positions for Mira, but for the time being, he needed a navigator, and she was supposed to be good at her job. He'd give her a chance. From the ready room, he moved the short distance to the bridge.

The new short petite girl arrives at her room in her summer dress opening the double door and sees an empty cargohold. "Eh?" She tilts her head. "What..." Mira scratches her head "This has to be a mistake... Yeah... totally a mistake..."
She glances at the pad again confused. "I'm being screwed with..." She holds on to her bags.

Aidan relieves the officer in command, and orders, "Helm, resume course to (Wheereverthefuckwearegoing)."

Dezy left Engineering, making her way to the security station on the bridge. She figured with most systems restored, as soon as she entered the lift she entered the command for the bridge.

Mira mumbles and leaves the empty cargohold continuing on her way heading down the hall going to head to the bridge since she had no room and that was where she was to report. She had no where to put her stuff so she might as well go there now. Maki continued to watch over engineering; she was not of much help here but she kept buffing people. Ayano meanwhile was off duty now and was taking the little bit of rest she could get between shifts, her desk work and... Well living life.

The Repulse starts moving in the general direction before engaging the FTL drive. It felt good to be moving again. Sitting around with support tended to make one a target.

Dezy stepped off the bridge, and looked around before she made her way to the security station. She set up one of the monitors to show the holding cells to check on the prisoner. Last thing they needed was a prison break while repairs were still underway.

Aidan muttered to himself, then tapped the com. "Captain Lowin. Can you join me on the bridge?"

Mira enters the bridge dropping her bags looking unhappy. "This place requires too much walking..." Aidan literally called her as she was about to walk into the door. She thought of being a herself and saying honey I'm home but after her whining just now she just said nothing. "People here enjoy practical jokes huh... A cargohold isn't a bedroom..." On the monitor the prisoner was strapped to a chair still in darkness with a sensory deprivation kit attached to him. Back on the bridge an officer at the operations station said. "Sir we may have found something; it will require someone with more skilled data analysis skills to review it though; none of the intel and encryption specialists from the Lavie were brought with the Repulse team though sir."

As she begins her review and search she finds that there are data fragments of a virus or rather from it on the system. The AI had managed to kill the virus and remove its damage. Repairs were complete these fragments were harmless and more a tag left over. They called back to a particular set of information. Beyond this it would require further analysis.
Mira nodded. "So what did you need to discuss though General?"

"Looks like we had a virus," Dezy spoke up reporting her findings, "The computers removed the damage it's done, but there are fragments, and a tag left over."

"Oh, just a quick calculation on our arrival time. But I may have jumped the gun." Aidan offered.
"Tag?" Aidan said. "Like a signature of who did it?" He asked.

"I believe so," Dezy answered, "The fragments appear harmless, and I think it was accessing certain information. I'll need to analyze it further."

"Once it's isolated, put it on a padd with no other access. I'd like to look at that myself." Aidan said.

Mira goes over to the holographic mapping station; a gigantic three dimensional map of space and their location appeared. She sits at the station dropping her bags to her side and pulling out a pocky stick and sticking it in her mouth as she pulls a stylus with her other hand and begins manipulating the map and moving things with her hand. She enters things one handed on the panel without looking while she stares at the map. " 1 day 16 hours and 46 minutes. There is also a nice beach world on the way there... though stops are not really a thing... Oh yeah... if you need me help with that computer issue." She munches the rest of the treat then dismisses the map. After she finishes eating, she continues. "I can see what I can do to help... You know this mapping system has fleet command and combat uses too right... or you guys have probably never used this in a battle before have you... I only saw one of my bosses in Lonhorn use it once... private army shit..." Mira said.

"Not so much, no." Aidan said. "Usually trouble finds us. We don't have to go find it."

Mira nods as he escorts her to her quarters. She still wasn't used to most of this, after all until an hour ago she was living in an ICU medical module. It also hadn't quite connected with her that due to her status as an employee with Lonhorn and part of its PMC and Captain of her own ship, Trinity considered her that rank here. Even if she was "just a survey ship captain" in her mind; she was considered leadership here as much as she was oblivious to that.

Nik added. "I am the jack of all trades here so feel free to coordinate anything you may need. Medical, or advanced tech."

As soon as Dezy was done isolating the virus, she placed it on a secure pad, and then left her station. She watched Mira leave the bridge, then approached Aidan. "Virus and tag are on this pad," She spoke handing over the pad.

"Thanks Dezy." Aidan took time to scan the file for signs of anything useful. His own computer skills were considerable but he also hadn't had the time to do much other than paperwork.

Mira was in the lounge/mess again; it was dinnertime... or was it... people were here, so she knew mealtime was here and the clock signaled to her that it should be dinner but space had no time, so it was all relative; nothing mattered. She had her tablet and was drawing her surroundings as per her usual MO, just that she was actually doing it in reality now since she had a subject now and a real world object to do it on. The greyness of the walls left something to be desired; such was military life though. She made it look more steampunkish in her drawing... gotta make it look more epic.... too much grey and metal dullness would murder everyone's mind. She was enjoying herself... God she didn't get out much.

Dezy was taking her break, and decided to get a meal. She made her way to the mess, and ordered chicken parmesan. As soon as it materialized, she picked it up and made her way to a table.

The next shift came in for bridge duty. I was a long time since Aidan had done a full shift on the bridge. He stretched after entering the lift and tried to work out some kinks in his back. Noises came from his stomach. Too much coffee and not enough nutrition. Making his way to the small galley, he entered and waited for his turn at the food slot.

Tory had finished his shift and had returned to his quarters. He had been working on his hobby in his spare time, taking out a pair of mini robotic mice. EVA took control of them and set them down. "I'm famished. Lets see how well you guys move," he said to his little creations. They were still prototypes and new legs were installed. He went to the lounge where he got today's dinner item. He saw Dezy and Mira sitting at a table. "Is this spot taken?" he said to them as there were still seats.

Tory sat down at the seat. There were little scuttling sounds as the two robotic mice climbed onto the table from the floor and stayed next to him. "Sticky leg function seems working, this time," he said to himself as he noted this version of the legs were acceptable.

Thankfully the doctor managed to heal his leg in what might've been a bank breaking procedure. The Mice didn't move from their spots but their robot eyes were certainly staring at the two as if observing and studying them. Might be even creepier since they weren't moving beyond randomized whisker twitching.

Tory could relate to Dezy's lost eyes, even if that sort of accident was far worse than he had. He petted one of the mice. "They have miniaturized lightning gem power cells. Not the most economical but it gives it plenty of energy life for its tiny body," he said to Dezy.

Aidan wanted to point out he has sent plenty of people off to be killed, but that seemed cruel.

She finishes her drawing and closes it turning off her tablet. She then goes over to Tim. "Hey..." She waves at him kneeling down in front of him. "Yo... you ignoring me..."

He thumbed the black cloth star on his uniform towards Mira's field of vision. "Rank does have privilege, but that's layered with responsibility. I cannot always be as spontaneous and off the cuff as I may want to be."

Mira said; ironically only probably a handful of people even on the Lavie understood such of that; usually the combat command staff with years of experience; you could tell those with command level training and those with combat experience from those who were just duty officers with school book learning.

"Been there, done that, collected the dog tags." Aidan said in a matter of fact tone. He added a splash of hot sauce to the beans. "So other than boredom, what brings you to our section of the galaxy?" he asked her.

"What of heat sight? They also must run on some sort of battery too right?" he said to her. He then petted his two mice. "How long have you had those eyes?" he asked her.

"We were surveying planets out here in the unexplored sector of space trying to make a map for the Federation's First Contact Division so Starfleet could send out Envoys. TUC took over that role obviously when the Senate shit itself... but long story short my surveyor and I ran into a problem... One of the planets we were surveying was attacked. An alien race was also surveying the planet but its survey team was attacked by the natives, they sent a distress signal; we went to investigate and ended up getting pulled down with them. Eventually after helping to resolve things on the ground we managed to get off the planet but my surveyor offered to stay and help the survey team there and the natives; it seems they reached some sort of an arrangement. I still don't know the full details... So I just kept mapping... Obviously real me was trapped in her box and it was only one of my avatar bodies down there so what could I do but leave him."
"It was at about the point when I finished the map of this area that your fighter pilot found me... and here we are." Mira finished.

"Fair. Just wondering. We run into more than our share of trouble. Not trying to dissuade you, just making sure that you understand the mission before jumping in with both feet." Aidan offered.

"Like I said after this map is transmitted I am jobless... so you got a crewless girl with her little lightly armed survey ship who can map and attach herself to computers at your disposal..." She said shrugging.
"You all did fix me after all... doctors cost a lot of credits... heh..." She said blushing.

Tory grimmaced. It must've been some accident with both eyes needing to be replaced. He figured they could move on to something less depressing. "What do you think of these two? I could use some outside criticism," he said.

Ayano by this point had put her hand on Aidan's shoulder and smirked. "Total dystopia... I knew it... and here they told me doctors are free... lies... This poor girl is the future's slave isn't she Aidan'san..." Ayano said as she knelt down to Aidan's eyes and looked at him dramatic-like in typical Yuka fashion "She's a slave.... there going to do horrible things to her aren't they... bad future people.... so evil?! We gotta save her from them...."

Aidan grabbed Ayano by the hips. "You're the one I am going to horrible things to. Keep pushing me short round." He said sticking his tongue out at her.

I could totally write a love story about it, with me as the main character..." A security officer in a nearby table falls from his chair laughing.

Tory chuckled. "I've designed them to become scouts, once they are working properly. Who would really notice mice?" he said as he would slowly put them back at his side, when Dezy finished examining them. "Their leggings passed this trial. Now I just gotta make them look a bit more real," he said to her.

"I'll see what I can do about reducing her medical bill. I may be able to write off some of it as necessary treatment of personnel. " Aidan added, squeezing Ayano's rear as his hand moved back to his own side.

Ayano smiled. "Yay humanitarian aide... Go for me!" "God... shes more fangirl than I am... and I'm the personification of loli..." Mira said. Ayano looks at her. The two stare. The two come close to each other and stare; they stare more, stare again, stare more, bark, meow, stick their tongues out at each other and then make obnoxious faces at each other. The both seem annoyed that they have succeeded in one upping one another. [Editor's note: What the fu..? Brilliant!]

Ayano was overseeing the bridge as the shifts had gotten all fucked up with the on again off again combat and missions. Plus the messed up duty roster really made things annoying. Ayano was in charge of a bunch of the new random crewmen they got from the city ship. A bunch of replacement crew; not even Trinity personnel; a bunch of actual like academy people. Well... They did need bodies... As she was reading over a report she was reminded that they would be at their destination in less than a day.

One of the crewmen at the science station was reading over the information off the screen, keeping an eye out for strange sensor readings. It was his first assignment, and had no idea he was going to be assigned to the bridge.

Aidan stepped onto the bridge. Had made a standing order that everyone stop announcing his arrival. He always found that particular order annoying since he was a marine. Looking around at the fresh and new to him faces he said, "Mister Layton. Let's make sure that we have a fresh and more experienced crew when we get close to the planet. Even if it means a juggling act, we may need more seasoned people in place. Let's hope I'm wrong."

Dezy was in her room going over the information that she had gathered on the virus fragments from the ship's computer. She was kind of bored out of her mind, but determined to figure out whether it was only intended to shut down the ship, or if it was intended to do more.

As aiden steps onto the bridge, a little spec of light seemingly with a mind of its own seemed to free itself from "hitching a ride" on him. Shortly after the little orb expands into the figure Ayano would recognize as Veil. "So I've been eavesdropping.. You guys looking for some support?"

As the general came over to Ayano and told her that she really should have more seasoned people on the bridge she shrugged. "I do understand that however all handles were indeed just on deck; you suggest I make them pull doubles or some of them triples... Not that they can't; it's what they are trained for... With a lull before the storm I just thought..." As she was about to continue, the officer at tactical announced. "Multiple unknown contacts exiting slipstream."

The tactical officer puts of shields and moves weapons to standby. Ayano sends a message over the ships comm "All hands condition yellow; personnel to action stations... senior officers to the bridge."

Seeing the yellow lights flash, and the announcement from Ayano. She dropped the datapad, and grabbed her uniform jacket and gun before leaving her quarters. "The fuck is going on now," She muttered as she made her way to the lift.

As the vessels were hailed a man in a cloak which did not look like the cult; they looked like something else simply said. "You have something that belongs to us. Return it or face or wrath." They immediately end the transmission. The four ships go into a holding pattern blocking the movement of the repulse. As the little creature response in such a manner the marine tilts his head. By this time the lift opened. Mira, Trent and others in the senior staff get out. Mira moves over to the holographic sensor system.. "Four targets in an X holding formation attempting to block our movements." She said immediately from her seat putting on her comm headset piece. Since the repulse had no mechs though there was no field units on our side for her to communicate with.

"something that belongs to them.. is there something we're suppose to keep guard of?" veil asked as she doesn't quite understand only just hearing about this.

Dezy got off the turbolift, adjusting the uniform jacket to hide her more casual top. She made her way over to one of the security oversight stations.
The crewman at science took a moment to scan the ships to see if there was anything he could find out about them.

"Weapons hot. Target the source of that transmission with everything we've got." Looking over at the comm officer, he gestured, "This is General Aidan Thornton. If you want to be more specific, I am happy to listen. Otherwise, if you're feeling froggy, go ahead and leap. Not my first battle. Probably not my last either."

The open up the transmission again. "Return the artifact."

"If I knew what the hell you are talking about I might be able to generate a response." He replied.

"Hi there Mari Lowin; So I just work for an unconcerned third party but you know I don't really want to die so if you could tell me what these beings and heretics are maybe I could help you find them and get you away from these foolish ones?" "mmmm Someone with a brain.... Nevertheless anyone with the cultists will deserve to die and anyone supporting those silly crystals also must die... It is the only way to prevent those creatures from getting to this sector... prepare for eradication." "What?" "You will be annihilated." "Hang the fuck on dude... Cultists... "Lower your shields and prepare for the transport." Aidan said, sending an encrypted message to the armory to teleport a torpedo in the prisoner's place. More if all the ships had shields down.
Aidan was outnumbered. Outgunned probably too. The Enemy had never given him quarter. He wasn't about to give them any.

"Awaiting word from the teleporter chief," Dezy reported, mostly to reassure the other ship that they were prepping to beam the 'prisoner' over.

To the mention of the crystals veil interest was piqued however "annihilation" caught her worry even more "if you guys need me to head out there and do my thing I am at your service.." veil offered.

The lead ship lowers its shields but does not do so until the repulse lowers its. The other ships however even when their shields went down they had dampening fields up. Nothing could be beamed into them. Upon their comrade exploding the man on the scream screams something in another language as he explodes. The three other ships pwoer up their shields and begin to attack the repulse aiming for its vital systems. One of the other ships sends a very simple message. "Surrender and prepare to be enslaved fo ryour crimes or perish."

"Attack pattern theta. Target the lead ship and fire." Aidan ordered.

"Initiating attack pattern theta," Dezy replied already locking weapons on the other ships and firing.

"Send out a general distress call. Request for assistance. Under attack by cult forces."

"At your discretion Dezy. Everything we've got at the lead ship." Aidan said. "Veil, your next."

"Firing now," Dezy replied, and fired every weapon available at the lead ship, hoping helm could evade the fire of the others.

in a slight haste she asked aidan "what do you need me to do." she questioned.

"At the risk of being punny. This is too much heat for us. Do something. You know your capabilities more than I do." Aidan offered.

Veil looks at aiden then nods as she levitates up with a glow with a energy that is similar to Maki's preparing to teleport into the battlespace.

Mira sees another portal. "New slipstream signal... tracking the endpoint... its from Federation space... A TFS signal and IFF transmitter." There is a hail across all channels. "Greetings and salutations I'd suggest you stop right there, criminal scum! Nobody breaks the law on my watch! I'm confiscating your stolen goods. Now pay your fine or it's off to jail." A female voice says as four mechs another Defiant and the Lavie come out of the Slipstream. They all fire on the enemy. Since these guys were obviously not expecting reinforcements for this poor ship this was a surprise and two of the ships were easily disabled. The last just turns tail and runs tracting its two friends while the lead ship just finishes itself off. "Don't run away; we still wanted to play." Kiyoko said from her mech as she fires into their slipsteam exit point. "Damn..." She whines.

"are we taking prisoners, I can encase them and bring them in if that will be valuable to us." she pauses "or i can blast them." my warping is ready on command.

Aidan
"The cavalry in the nick of time. Just like the movies. Be a good idea to follow that last ship just to see where it's going." Aidan pointed out.
"Give them ten seconds to surrender. If they don't. Send them to hell." Aidan replied. No effort to hide the anger in his voice.

As Aidan said that into the active comm line. "Roger dodger..." The girl said appearing on the view screen it was Erin. She waved and the Lavie picked up the Repulse. Its mechs then joined it. The other defiant followed behidn it and they went after the last ship.. THough it disappeared into the void. No idea why. It seems they lost ALL energy signatures coming from it, period.

Veil nodded at aiden "just give me the word General."

Mira sits back at her station. "Something that guy mentioned; space creatures; anything you guys know about that?"

"did.. are they gone..?" Veil questioned before hearing a mention space creatures "you mean the things that killed me? what would that have to do with them though, arent they gone..?" veil still holding out her warping encantation.

Aidan said, "The more I know the less I like it." Thoughts of finding the portal they use and dropping in a few nova bombs came to mind.
"Let's see what we can come up with people. I'd also like our interrogation specialist have a crack at our artifact. Make it happen."

After the briefing was over and the assignment of personnel to posts the ship was nearing its destination. Ari was sent a message by the bridge that they would be arriving within the half hour. She sent this information to the away team to ensure they were prepared and had reviewed the information they had. Seeing as this mission would be more scientific in nature and they already sending tactical officers she decided to send the new scientist who just joined them. haru along with an engineer for support and a team lead. She hadn't decided who though. SHe asked Aidan over VX for his opinion as she made her way to the bridge and also made sure they team would be ready for transport once they finally arrived.

As they arrived in the transporter the ship was entering the system and Ari had communications try to raise the team that send the distress call. No response. it seemed the beacon from the small colony outpost here was also offline. Ari nodded to herself; she knew this would happen as obviously why would they have been sent here otherwise. Ari opened a channel to the transporter room. "Bridge to away team; the colony has not responded; we are going to be beaming you to the coordinates of the outpost. Out scans don't pick up anything but considering the nature of this call and the strangeness we encountered earlier I would say be ready. We will monitor from here." She said to the group. Haru just nodded in acknowledgement of what she was told. Her first field assignment in years... This would be "fun". The transporter chief waited for everyone to get on the pad unless they had questions concerns or otherwise.

There was a panel there and some equipment that was from the exploration team. This one building was intact but no one was here. There was no indication of where the explorers in this team had gone. Looking out the window there were trees and a couple other makeshift buildings which were part of this scientific expedition but it appeared no one was here. They were in a wooded area.

There was only a couple scientists here creating this outpost. They were gathering information on this world but after the distress signal was sent logs stop. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary from the logs at least in this building.

Sanya nodded as she drew her pistol, following the team going towards the lab.

Everything in the outpost smelled new. Freshly constructed sterile metallic walls, glossy floors not yet marred by a thousand boot falls, and the lingering scent of bleach and copper. A breeze accompanied by the rattle of the air recirculator turning on brought with it the scent of mossy pine from outside. Walking through the brightly lit outpost, they found the lab to be in the process of being set-up. Terminals new with stickers and protective coverings were attached to consoles. A wall of blank monitors greeted them from a back wall, the control console pulsing teal and violet in front of it.

In the center of the room was a holographic projection of the planet, floating innocuously.

"No blood or damage," Tory said as a note to the group. He wasn't taking chances as he kept his pistol drawn. He went up to the new terminals and took a look at them. Some of them weren't plugged in and were in the process of being plugged in. He set his pack down and took some small tools that would help him plug into the network. "It almost seems like the holomap of the planet is the only thing properly set up," he said. He then saw a terminal that looked close to being set up and he went right to it. "See if there are any other consoles that are plugged in. I'll get this one up," he said as he was plugging in the exposed cables

She didn't bother ordering the scientists as she was sure they already knew what to do. She made her way to a terminal that didn't seem to be plugged in, and started to work on getting it set up.

Sanya was quiet as she walked around the room. Her eyes softly pulsed violet as she scanned the room.

The terminals set-up without incident. There was a audible buzz and hum as the systems connected to power. Power buttons pulsed with a green light to start their start-up sequences. A warmth bristled over their skin as the particles in the air became charged, lightly sparking with static electricity. The bouquet of disinfectant, heavy plastic, copper, and metal left a foul taste in their mouths like they had licked a battery.

William found a small pile of box debris in the corner. A corner of the boxes was blackened and appeared stained. The heavy acrid scent of disinfectant in the room made it difficult to smell anything else.

Tory had his terminal plugged in and the lovely sound of it coming to life along with the other terminals was like a small harmonious band. STill a certain smell was mixed in the air with the disinfectant which annoyed him but it would pass soon. The screens on the console and the wall screens would begin to flicker to life, adding a welcome message and then running its system tests before arriving at the main screen. He took a electronic link from his gear and plugged it to his wrist PDA. As long as it was connected to the local network, EVA and he could find a way to the security network. "Alright, I'm in. I should be getting the security logs and camera feeds," he said as he was slaving the logs to a screen while the cameras would be slaved to another group of screens

Something hot might've left this," he said as he looked over at the distance where the boxes were. Most of them seemed normal and untouched. "Maybe some of the lab equipment can do a scan of this," he suggested. This is a research outpost so they would have a variety of scanners and sensors on hand, assuming they weren't damaged and were set up

If anything, the current camera views were showing various locations in and outside of the base camp. No activity was seen. "Nothing is showing any unwelcome visitors," Tory said as he was checking the logs next for any abnormal observations by the outpost crew. "EVA, bring up any video of twelve hours prior to the distress signal sent out," Tory said as EVA began to scour for the video imaging that he asked for. Hopefully there was something on to show what happened.

Beneath the sample, there was strange shape was burned into the otherwise unmarred tile.

There were no documented seismic movements. Not even a shift of equipment. Beyond there was the low hum of electronics and the air recirculator.

There was a loud POP as the images on the monitors were replaced with something else.

Group 1 didn't report any anomalies, they seemed concerned at the distress in Dezy's voice.

<START SIM> As the team began to review the data more a device was transported down to copy the computer data on to much faster than a download would be. This data would need to be analyzed and fast. It seemed just based on the vibe this place was giving off doing that here likely was not the safest idea. Given Sanya's knowledge of the language and seemingly information contained in it once the download was complete she was sent back to the ship with the data and Dezy as an escort. Kirin, Maki and Ryuji were sent down to provide additional tactical support as this seemed to be quite an unsafe place... "Lest we move forward?" Haru asked looking from Ayasha to the marines over to the others in the group as the other marines in group one were searching in one of the other buildings. This place totally gave off... Something wasn't right here. Tim was then transported down as well to give the team an extra non-combat hand after all the combat and security personnel should be focused on keeping the team alive... sending a bunch of researchers down here without protection would have been stupid.

The Marines were used to bad situations. They kept vigilant, their eyes on a swivel as they spread out a bit. Ayasha stay nearer the middle of the pack, unsure where to go. Medics aren't a good idea as point guard she was taught.

Tim thinks quietly then replies. "That is a fair point."

"Though do we explore up here further or go down... the markings seem to symbolize something about going down... but not knowing the language is down good or bad...?" Haru posed being the scientist she was. "I mean whatever is here could gain energy from the planet... The truth is we have no clue what we are dealing with."

atsumari

"The better question is... are they even still alive?" Maki said saying what everyone was thinking.

"The dead cannot be saved so responding to a distress call from corpses is just risking our own lives for nothing" She added.

Tim nods.

Aidan

"Only one way to find out." Nik said. The beam weapon deployed on one shoulder and the drum fed carbine and sword in the other. He set down something that looked like a large tarantula. It scurried alone towards the cave opening.

As the marines opened the door and the little object as it scurried along heading for the cave. "You know you could have sent those things into the other buildings as opposed to just sending the marines.... why didn't you till us you had those before?" Haru asked him.

Aidan

"Nobody asked. I'm not a combat soldier per se. Yes I have the programming but it's not in my nature. It's a simple enough robot. Not much more than a child's toy. I will make some others." Nik offered, then added. "The only other combat mission was back on New Soong Colony."

Haru shrugged. "Neither am I just because the commission calls me a field agent doesn't mean I am a combat person... I'm just trained to die less... but even then... giving a scientist a gun, a first aid kit and showing them how to shoot doesn't save them from death."

Tim watches the legged thing go into the cave. "I don't wanna go down there." He looks at the cave.

Aidan

"Even as an android, I am scared to death, or its electronic equivalent." Nik quipped.

Tory Trace

Tory looked up after reviewing some of the security data on the monitors. "I'll stay here. I'm not much for cave spelunking. Plus something is probably messing with the computers if that thing is taunting us without being detected," he said to the group.

The little legged critter enters the cave and begins to go down. It enables its night vision as it goes down.

The camera detects something but as quickly as it is noticed it disappears.

Aidan

"Something is there at least. Friend of foe is another story." Nik enable a speaker on the device and said. "This is Lieutenant Blom from the USS Lavie. Please show yourselves. We come in peace."

The team loses contact witht he little camera.

Haru walks out of this main building and goes into the living quarters where the marines were from the other group beginning to search with them. "Go search the other building. We need to find out what the shit happened to this place...." She said sternly. She begins turning the room upside down looking for any sign of anything from the Federation surveyors.

The marines go and search the third building.

Tory Trace

"What happened? Did the little drone lose reception?" Tory said through the VX. He had EVA patch in the video to observe.

Aidan

Nik tried a recall and a reboot command. He also adjusted the gain on the microphone. "If it couldn't see, but that doesn't mean it cannot hear."

The robot did not reply back to its master. It seems that it was not communicating back. As Haru was searching she found a small book under one of the bed stands. She opened it. It was a dairy. She scrolled through the book going to the end. It spoke of how they had sent some of the researchers into the cave to search but had lost contact. The research commander sent a call for help when a probe they sent in didn't come back. it was obvious to him something happened to his comrades. The next day the teams security personnel had disappeared from their tent. The camp was only partially set up and so the researchers only had stable accommodations. The next day there was no entry. Haru sighed wondering if whatever was in the cave hunted outside at night... What the hell was this sector of space, monsters out in space, a group of vigilantes or whatever they were threatening to kill them and now this...

Tim continues to check his surroundings.

Hmm that is weird that the drone lost connection after it detected some right away.

As Nik listened to the audio it sounded like the robot was crushed. Consumed all at once.

Tim takes a couple steps back to put as much distance between him and the entrance to the cave.

Tory Trace

Tory was listening to it and he shuddered. "Something's in the cave. Get everyone away from the cave," he said through the VX.

Aidan

"If we go in. I want more firepower." Nik tried to open a comm with the Lavie.

Kirin asks, "nik should we setup a trap for what ever is instead the cave or throw glowsticks in to lure it deeper in if it detection of motion or light?"

Haru came out to the group. "The thing either hunts in darkness or night... if you want my opinion; this team is dead..." . The other marines tagged everything of interst in the supply building and had it sent back tot he Lavie.

"There is no one for us to rescue"

Aidan

"So nuke it from orbit. It would be the only way to be sure." Nik offered. Not joking.

Tim replies. "I don't wanna be here when it hits nightfall." He looks uneasy.

keving

"Or should we just setup a depth charge with c4 and set it off when we leave and see of if it stirs up anything from the air with night vision" Kirin asks.

Aidan

He closed off his mind to the atrocities it had committed. Nik informed Captain Mizriki of what happened.

Tory Trace

"I'll go check on the transporter pad," Tory said as he unplugged his gear and pulled EVA out of the system. He's seen far too many scary films to take chances on their way off the planet. He started heading towards their transport pad in the camp.

The marines began to disasemble what they cold and have the ship take it back as quickly as possible most of the place wouldn't be useful but they got what was useful.. Haru closed her right eye and stood by the cave for a moment staring down it with her left eye. The energy down there was very... very odd and it was growing. "Hum... This place is totally going to suck..."

Kirin heads towards Haru and ask "what do you see and how soon do we need to leave this phenomena."

Aidan

"Leave the equipment. Stuff can be replaced. Lives are another matter." Nik offered. "Let's all start moving towards the pad. That's an order."

Tim starts toward the pad and waits for the others following the order immediately.

Tory Trace

Tory arrived at the trasnport pad and plugged into the console. "EVA, check status of the transport system," he said as he watched people come into the room to begin its use.

She turns around and pulls the diary out of her pocket. "Well poor person... hopefully we can gain something from your last words...." She said talking to the book. As Kirin asked her what she saw "An energy source that looks like it is eating other energy around it; the sources are ... uh... merging... I think would be the best way to describe it... He has the right idea..." As Nik gave them the orders the marines finished getting everything that was research and of importance anyway so they stopped getting the supplies. The computers and other things had their data taken already so were pointless to disassemble. It would be nice to gather information on this planet more but given the readings down in the cave Haru thought it wouldn't be safe.

Aidan

"So it's feeding. Do we know on what?" Nik asked.

"I don't wanna know, sounds like everything." Tim adds.

atsumari

"without actual research, scans and samples... You are asking the wrong girl." Haru said to Nik. She wondered what they were feeding on; was it pure energy, something in particular...

The entire team was now back at the transporter as sunset had arrived.

The transporter chief on the Lavie signals that they are ready to bring back the first group.

Tory Trace

Tory saw the system was green light and ready for use. He unplugged from the console and joined the rest onto the pad.

Aidan

"I'll go with the second group. Let's get a move on." Nik said.

"How many people can this transporter can handle at once before recharging?"

"I guess I'll go first then." Tim nods he's ready to be teleported.

Haru, Nik and a marine stayed behind to be in the second group. She signaled the chief to bring the majority back. The group is sent back without issue. She sets the second transport on a timer. As the sun was setting a sound was heard. Haru saw one of the energy blobs coming out of the cave and going to the bases generator to feed on it. It did notice the three of them yet. As the timer was about to expire she had a thought and pulled out a gem firing it at the creature. The energy was just being consumed by the thing; it was not being harmed. Then the three were beamed out.
